MY ORAL PRESENTATION

1. WHAT’S VALENTINE’S DAY?

Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the English-speaking countries, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery.

2. HISTORY

-The fist association with romantic love and Valentine’s day was in Parliament of Foules, a very famous poem.

-There are also some people who think the tradition comes from medieval history. They think that there was a day totally devoted to love.

3. SOME DIFERENT VIEWS

- 6 out of 10 people think that Valentine’s day it’s only a commercial interest, because in this February day some people give presents, flowers, cards to each other and it is a great income

- Other people think that it’s a good day for express you feelings and be happy with you girl or boy friend.

4. VALENTINE’S DAY ARROWND THE WORLD

This day is not the same everywhere, every country have their traditions and celebrations.

• In Great Britain and Italy, women waiting the first ray of sunshine in front of the window. They think that the fist man who passes will be her husband and her love.

• In Corea the women give chocolate to her husbands.

• In New York, only 8 partners can marry in Valentine’s day

5. CURIOSITY

• 9 millions of American people buy some presents for their pets.

• Gorge Clooney paid 30.000$ for a suit in a hotel in Valentine’s day

• Italian city, Verona, was William Shakespeare located his plot Romeo and Julieta, during Valentine’s Day receives more than 1000 letters addressed to Julieta.

WRITING: MY EASTER HOLIDAYS

I enjoywd a lot these Easter HOlidays! I spent a lot of time with my friends and I also did some different activities like going to the cinema or to parties.

In the fist weekend, I relaxed a lot because I didn't have any homework to do. During the week I did some different activities: I went to la Draga with my friends , I traveled to Barcelona and I went to the cinema too.

In general, I think that these Easter holidays have been very positive to relax and recharge our energy, but I must say one important thing: THEY ARE TOO SHORT HOLIDAYS!

WRITI NG: TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal building is located in Agra, India. It was built by 20000 people and by some Asian or Persian architects. It was built up between 1632 and 1644. This beautiful place was built like a mausoleum for the sultan's wife, Arjumand Bagu Bagam, when she died.

The Place is made out of marble and some jewels in the exterior wall. From the outside, you can see the large garden which encircles it. Inside, it's also fantastic: there are some mosques and a big mausoleum.

I've never visited Taj Mahal because I've never been in India. But if some day I go there, I'm absolutely shure that I'm going to visit Taj Mahal.

GIVING ADVICE

Dear Sandra
One of my friends has started acting quite strangely. She's always looking for money and she sometimes misses school. She's going out with a guy, Steve, who I don't know very well. Steve doesn't speak to me when the three are together and he looks me very angrily. I don't really know what's happening. What's your advice?

Dear Clare,

Don't be worried. If I were you, I would to try to talk with your friend, because I think that she has a problem. If she don't listen to you, you must talk to her parents and tell them the problem abut the guy, Steve.

I think that you also should talk to the guy about your friend, asking him about the real reasons of Clare's school misses and asking about the money too.

As for a guy's angrily looking, don't be worried. It's probably that Steve doesn't know you well and he probably thinks that you are unfriendly.

Mariona: Is it the exam tomorrow? You shouldn't worry.. You'll pass easily.
Clara: I know.
Mariona: Come on, tell me. What are you worried about?
Clara: OK... it's Marta. I think that she smokes. I was talking to her yesterday and I said that smoking is unhealthy and dangerous but she just said I'm being annoying.
Mariona: That's serious! This is very important for her health. What are you going to do?
Clara: I'm not sure. I should tell someone. What do you think I should do?
Mariona: If I were you, I'd speak to her brother. He's very cheerful.
Clara: I've never met him. Can you come with me?
Mariona: Yes, of course. Let's go and find him.

TWILIGHT SAGA

Twilight is not a traditional story about good and evil. It is a series of four fantasy and romance novels about a teenager, Isabella Swan, who falls in love with a vampire called Edward Cullen. The 17series is one of the most popular written for teenagers and has sold over 17 million copies in 37 countries. The other books in the series, New moon and Eclipse, follow the adventures of Isabella. The final book, Breaking Dawn, is the grand finale.

LEARNING REFLECTION

I thing that in this second turn I learned a lot about oral presentations, because in our English classroom we worked a lot this part of oral expression.
I also thing that the work in the language room is dynamic and interesting because we can work in groups and practice our English.
It's too important that we do our work day to day.
Language room is, in my opinion, a great place where we can learn a lot and work together! ;)

INTRODUCTION

The Topic I’m choosing is artistic swimming. In this oral presentation you can know more things about this Olympic sport and meet some important people.
There will be some dialogues and biographies too. Enjoy it a lot!


A PROFILE OF ARTISTIC SWIMMING

Artistic swimming is a close discipline to swimming, with the aim to dance and make beautiful images in the water.
This sport appeared in Europe in the Second World War. It’s also probably that it came from USA where one famous actress showed in her films practising beautiful arts in the water.

Now there are some competitions and championships around the world. But the most important competition is Olympic Games. Sometimes there’re different categories: technical exercise and free exercise.

My favourite swimmer is Gemma Mengual, because she is very natural and creative in the water. She has won some prizes.

- She was competed in some Olympic games
- Now, she is a model too
- She started to swim when she was young
- She is the most important swimmer in our country



INTERVIEW A CHAMPION



Why did you try to swim?

Because I love the water! I can be free when I’m swimming. It’s also good because we work and swim together. It’s amazing!




And… what about your team?

I love them! They’re very friendly and funny, and we enjoy a lot during our diary training


What was the most important competition?

Olympic Games of Pekin. It was an exciting experience, and I’ll remember always the championship.

PERSONAL OPINION

Artistic swiiming is a very interesting and funny sport. It's a helty sport too.

WRITING: IN THE FUTURE

In my opinion everything will cange in the future. Humans will be more intelligent and healthier than now, because we'll be more medicines and medical attentions. I belive that not everything will be good in the future , because we won't be able to control our pollution and maybe we won't have enough water for the entire world.

I think it's imortant that we protect our environment. If we don't keep it safe, we won't survive in this beautiful planet. It's also probable that other races or extraterrestrial people colonise us.

In general I feel positive about the future. But it depends of our actions and our responsibility. We'll have to protect this blue planet!

Funny Discotheque is a new enterprise for young peole. It's a place where younsters can enjoy, dance and meet friends. At the moment there is only one Funny Disotheque, but in the future I would like to have more locals.

CLARA'S SWIMMING PAGE

Swimming was invented many years ago, since the civilitzations of Greece and Rome. This sport has been practised by the Roman soldiers in his diary training. Now, there are more than thousands swimming competitions. Now it is one of most popular water sports in the world.

Among the most important and international swimming competitions are the Olympic Games. Swimming is only one part of this enormous championship. Scince 1912 women started to participate at this competition and now there are also a feminine categories

Gertrude Caroline Ederle is one of my favorite competitors. She was the first woman to cross the English Channel.
