MY ORAL PRESENTATION

1. WHAT’S VALENTINE’S DAY?

Saint Valentine's Day is a holiday celebrated on February 14 by many people throughout the world. In the English-speaking countries, it is the traditional day on which lovers express their love for each other by sending Valentine's cards, presenting flowers, or offering confectionery.

2. HISTORY

-The fist association with romantic love and Valentine’s day was in Parliament of Foules, a very famous poem.

-There are also some people who think the tradition comes from medieval history. They think that there was a day totally devoted to love.

3. SOME DIFERENT VIEWS

- 6 out of 10 people think that Valentine’s day it’s only a commercial interest, because in this February day some people give presents, flowers, cards to each other and it is a great income

- Other people think that it’s a good day for express you feelings and be happy with you girl or boy friend.

4. VALENTINE’S DAY ARROWND THE WORLD

This day is not the same everywhere, every country have their traditions and celebrations.

• In Great Britain and Italy, women waiting the first ray of sunshine in front of the window. They think that the fist man who passes will be her husband and her love.

• In Corea the women give chocolate to her husbands.

• In New York, only 8 partners can marry in Valentine’s day

5. CURIOSITY

• 9 millions of American people buy some presents for their pets.

• Gorge Clooney paid 30.000$ for a suit in a hotel in Valentine’s day

• Italian city, Verona, was William Shakespeare located his plot Romeo and Julieta, during Valentine’s Day receives more than 1000 letters addressed to Julieta.

WRITING: MY EASTER HOLIDAYS

I enjoywd a lot these Easter HOlidays! I spent a lot of time with my friends and I also did some different activities like going to the cinema or to parties.

In the fist weekend, I relaxed a lot because I didn't have any homework to do. During the week I did some different activities: I went to la Draga with my friends , I traveled to Barcelona and I went to the cinema too.

In general, I think that these Easter holidays have been very positive to relax and recharge our energy, but I must say one important thing: THEY ARE TOO SHORT HOLIDAYS!

WRITI NG: TAJ MAHAL

Taj Mahal building is located in Agra, India. It was built by 20000 people and by some Asian or Persian architects. It was built up between 1632 and 1644. This beautiful place was built like a mausoleum for the sultan's wife, Arjumand Bagu Bagam, when she died.

The Place is made out of marble and some jewels in the exterior wall. From the outside, you can see the large garden which encircles it. Inside, it's also fantastic: there are some mosques and a big mausoleum.

I've never visited Taj Mahal because I've never been in India. But if some day I go there, I'm absolutely shure that I'm going to visit Taj Mahal.

GIVING ADVICE

Dear Sandra
One of my friends has started acting quite strangely. She's always looking for money and she sometimes misses school. She's going out with a guy, Steve, who I don't know very well. Steve doesn't speak to me when the three are together and he looks me very angrily. I don't really know what's happening. What's your advice?

Dear Clare,

Don't be worried. If I were you, I would to try to talk with your friend, because I think that she has a problem. If she don't listen to you, you must talk to her parents and tell them the problem abut the guy, Steve.

I think that you also should talk to the guy about your friend, asking him about the real reasons of Clare's school misses and asking about the money too.

As for a guy's angrily looking, don't be worried. It's probably that Steve doesn't know you well and he probably thinks that you are unfriendly.

Mariona: Hi Clara. You look worried. What's the matter?
Clara: Er... it's nothing.
Mariona: Is it the exam tomorrow? You shouldn't worry.. You'll pass easily.
Clara: I know.
Mariona: Come on, tell me. What are you worried about?
Clara: OK... it's Marta. I think that she smokes. I was talking to her yesterday and I said that smoking is unhealthy and dangerous but she just said I'm being annoying.
Mariona: That's serious! This is very important for her health. What are you going to do?
Clara: I'm not sure. I should tell someone. What do you think I should do?
Mariona: If I were you, I'd speak to her brother. He's very cheerful.
Clara: I've never met him. Can you come with me?
Mariona: Yes, of course. Let's go and find him.
